Tektites are one of the most mysterious and most hotly-debated rock types on earth. Their origin remains an unsolved mystery after several hundred years of scientific research. Tektites exhibit a number of meteoritic features, including ablation and atmospheric melting, flight orientation, distribution on a certain strewn field, sharp difference from native rocks, so on. However, they don't have cosmic ray tracks and Al - Nd isotopic characteristics of a long period of time in outer space. Dr. J. D. O'Keefe, Dr. D. R. Chapman of NASA and other scientists have found more and more solid evidences showing the lunar origin of tektites. Meanwhile, other researchers find some evidences unfavorable to the theory that tektites are from the Moon. It is time for more people to try to solve this scientific riddle.
The Indochinite tektites we offer have an unusual variety of sizes and shapes. We are providing tektites of average quality to the trade at lowest wholesale prices. During the past few years, many tektites have been faceted and carved for jewelry in Asia. We started to collect tektites in 1988. We carefully select and clean almost all nicer pieces for collection and research, saving them from being cut into jewelry. There are some "one-of-a-kind" pieces for advanced collectors, researchers and museums. They have some rare features indicating their entry or "re-entry" into the atmosphere, melting, shaped transformation, aerodynamic orientation, brittle and plastic deformation, and other mechanisms. The tektites we collect are from Maoming City, Guangdong Province in south China, with K-Ar isotopic age of around 700,000 years. They have the same age as those found in Australia, Thailand, Vietnam and other countries in Southeast Asia. Please pick out a piece of possible Moon rock for your collection, and try your hand at solving the cosmic riddle of tektites. For advanced collectors and researcher, we sincerely wish to provide some unique samples and related geological information to promote investigation of tektites, especially in indochinite strewn field.

Here are our wholesale prices by kilo:
Small ( less than 50 mm, 35-45 counts per kilo): $15/ kg
Medium (50-80 mm, 15-25 counts per kilo): $30/ kg
Large ( greater than 80 mm, 10-20 counts per kilo): $50/kg
Following are the pictures of small and medium sizes. Most pieces (70-80%) are

in good shape. 20-30% of them have chips or rounded surface. The price for the pieces of damage free, various sizes and shapes, cleaned, is $50/kg.
Although there are many tektites from several countries available on the market, top-quality pieces are scarce.Tektites found in south China have been on the surface for 700,000 years. Many of them have been transported by rivers or washed by sea water, and lose their surface features. A large percentage of them are used by jewelry factories. Still, most pieces are damaged during handling and shipping at the source. We are lucky to have collected some very large, unusual and complete pieces in the past ten years.
Followed is the listings and photos, including some classic textbook shapes (disc-shaped, dumbbell, teardrop and sphere-shaped) and some rare forms. When you want to look at a certain piece for more detail, please click at the thumbnail picture or Stock # (anything in blue) to zoom it out.
